NOA moves to Norwegian servers

NOA has replaced Heroku, owned by American Amazon with servers in Ireland, with Norwegian Tussa and servers in Sunnmøre. We do this to secure our customers and users so that we can help even more people with attendance registration.

Background to the decision:
On July 16, 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union issued a landmark judgment on the transfer of personal data to countries outside the EU/EEA that may affect several digital solutions used by citizens, public and private companies. The decision is called the "Schrems II judgment" after the Austrian privacy activist Max Schrems. Schrems complained to the Irish Data Protection Authority to stop the transfer of personal data between Facebook Ireland and Facebook Inc. in the US. He argued that his personal data was not adequately protected in the US.

One consequence of the Schrems II ruling is thus a stricter basis for transfers from the EU to the US to ensure privacy.

In NOA, we therefore choose to remove all uncertainty about this issue by switching to Norwegian Tussa with storage, monitoring and daily backup at a remote location.

If you want to hear more about NOA's secure services and start using them from this fall, please contact us here we contact form, or send an email directly to hege@noticeofattendance.com.
